THE IDEA – GearServer.com is a website that is meant to serve the online gear community. Though we intend to provide a multitude of free services, our first priority is our user-friendly classified ads section for people that like to buy/sell/trade gear online.

GEAR CLASSIFIEDS - GearServer is a centralized location where you can host all of the information for all of your wanted or available items at any time. In the case that you’d like to post your ads on forums and other websites, you won’t have to completely retype all the info or even link to photo albums or anything like that. Instead, you can just post a link to your GearServer.com profile or listing which has all the info for your items.

THE BENEFITS – All of your gear is nicely organized in one place with photos and any other information you want to add. You get to control what info you include and what your terms are for each item. GearServer.com is not only free to use, but every post you make to GearServer.com will enter you into our drawings for free gear!

FEATURES – You can host photos of your gear right on the website. There is a contact form so you don’t have to make your email address public if you don’t want to. You can even post a link within your ad (for example, you may want to advertise your band, or if you put the item on ebay you can make a link to the auction.) All of your gear is displayed in a nice way. Below every ad there is a place where other members can post questions or comments about your item which you can respond to right on the website. This means you won’t have to answer the same question over and over again. This section is also a valuable feature in that it can be used to post feedback about members with whom you’ve already had a pleasant online transaction. Finally, you can also edit your ads at any time by clicking “my dashboard” in the upper-right corner of the website. Going away on vacation for a week but don’t want to have to retype your ad when you get back? No problem! Just go in your “dashboard” and pause your ads, then restart them when you return!

FEES/PRIZES - The website is completely free to use. In fact, unlike auction websites which charge you a fee to use them, every time you place an ad at GearServer.com you will be entered into a drawing for some cool piece of gear!

SECURITY - This was and will continue to be a top priority as we strive to create a positive environment at GearServer.com. Though security measures will be constantly evolving, there are currently several security measures in place which are intended to keep the community free from scammers and what we refer to as “bad traders,” without limiting the freedoms for honest users which makes GearServer such a great place to host your gear.

• There is a built-in system which the users can use to “flag” any fraudulent or questionable ads. This “flagged content” will then be reviewed by administrators and appropriate actions will be taken.
• Every ad also has a comments section below it. This means that just like in a forum you are able to converse with the seller and other people about the item in the ad, right there on the page. But this comments section also has other uses. It can be used to offer positive feedback about the seller in the case that you’ve completed a nice transaction with the person that created the ad. And it can also be used to post a warning to other users in the case that you see something in the ad that could be of concern. (This also allows honest sellers to clear up anything in the ad that may have been misunderstood.)
• There is an anti-spam feature which requires the user to answer a simple question in order to place an ad.

HOW TO GET STARTED – Find all the gear that you’d like to sell or trade and make a listing for it at GearServer.com. Then you can advertise your gear as you normally would in forums and classified ads sites by putting a link to your GearServer.com ad or profile. If you have any questions you can post them in the forum at GearServer.com which was setup to offer assistance for using the site. Also be sure to help others members of the community by viewing their ads and making comments!
